Amanda Knox, a father’s perspective

Amanda Knox, a father’s perspective

Some days I wake up and say “I’m glad it’s not me.”  Today I’m glad I’m not Amanda Knox’s father.  To get another call saying my daughter is once again accused of murder in a foreign country by a prosecutor who seems to be more concerned with his image than the truth is appalling. The laws of each country are different, but in the western civilized world I always thought the truth was what was important. That it is more important to compile all the evidence and facts before accusing someone of a vicious crime. Doesn’t seem so in Italy.

Amanda was held in jail for months without bail, grilled for hours without representation, in a country where she barely understood the language, charged with a crime of vicious murder by someone who just knew she was guilty and spent four years in jail. The evidence showed she wasn’t involved, and still the prosecutor proceeded as if she was, and the nightmare continues. Years have passed and still the prosecutor ignores the evidence. Having been a jurist several times in America, I for one would be disappointed in their public service employee. It’s is not about selling newspapers, it is about the truth and finding and prosecuting the guilty. I think my wine cellar will continue to be void of Italian wines. It’s a small protest on my part, but my form of sanctions.
