Deceptive Truth Prologue
Andrew brushed back his graying hair. Each day brought new creases to his once smooth face. Tonight would bring more as had the last few days. The fatigues were new, but the name patch was old, one of the five things he’d kept secret from everyone including his wife. Three of the items were on the night table. It was time to give two of them to Jason, the man right outside the door. One was an old American flag used to cover Jason’s father’s casket, and the other was the Medal of Honor earned by his father for saving Andrew’s life a long time ago. The last items, two gold bars, he’d wear for the first time tonight in honor of those who had died. And tonight the true story of his past would be told. There were no other insignias or rank, just like what he had worn years ago in a land far away. Heather had listened as she heard the truth about his war experience. They had hugged but neither could hide the tears the truth had brought. She had forgiven him and was now on her way to tell the children who were both in college. The orchestrated story would begin to leak out over a period of days. He was now somewhere he never thought he would be, and must tell the rest of the world what he had done. The black armband for his fellow squad members was tied on his right sleeve. How would his children take the news? He had lived one big lie his whole married life, but the power of their relationship had given him renewed strength to do the tasks that had seemed impossible just days before.
How would the secret service men feel about him? Everyone would know tomorrow, but tonight he would tell the whole story to just one man. Outside of the few who already knew, his number one security guard would be next. He would tell Jason the truth about his father who had died during the Viet Nam war, but not in the way his mother had been told. Others said they would tell him, but it was a job for someone who had been there, something Jason’s father had asked with his last breath. He had died so Andrew could live, and now Jason was in the same position, being asked by his government to die if necessary, so that Andrew could live. Andrew wasn’t sure how he was going to tell him. Maybe he should have Jason assigned to a different job and not ask him to take such a responsibility.
Andrew had a few minutes right now and there would never be a better time. He stood, walked over to the door and rested his hand against it. When he opened the door he saw Jason sitting at his usual post right outside. Jason stood immediately. “Jason, get someone to fill in for you. I want you to come in. I have a story to tell you about your father. Andrew paused and took a deep breath. “The true story of how he died in action when you were three. I promised him that I would tell you.”
“Yes sir.” Jason keyed his mike. “I need relief. ‘Big Dog’ has asked for me to come inside.” Jason waited for his relief, and then closed the door behind him and stood at attention.
“Sit down, Jason.” President Andrew Davidson motioned to the closest chair.
It had all started so innocently years ago during his final track meet.

Sent of Danger Synnopsis
Nick Phillips, a young doctor at the start of his career, loses his wife Linda along with their unborn child in a car accident. All his years of training were of no use as they die before his eyes in the emergency room. He steps away from medicine, first in grief, hiding from himself and the world, then to search for a new direction to his life. He’d loved his pregnant wife dearly. He remembered their gentle times together, her soft, kind touch. Although committed to her, his obsession was for medicine. Now the drive to be the best was gone.
He can’t help others if he can’t help himself. The path once so clear, won’t come back into focus. He climbs onto his bicycle and rides away from his home in New York City. Often asked to use his skill so highly honed in medical school, he assists others on his aimless journey across the United States. Each incident brings the recovery process closer to completion.
Marcie Corrandini, the only daughter of Europe’s reigning Mafia Don, must find a heart surgeon for her ailing father, someone who doesn’t realize who he is, will travel, assess her father’s condition, and do whatever is necessary to keep him alive.
She is being followed by Interpol, and they want to know what she is up to as she travels to Paris to do business for her father’s legitimate enterprises and researches cardiologists.
When she contacts Nick’s best friend, Jim Franks, still employed by the CIA, he can’t resist an opportunity to gain knowledge of the Corrandini family. Hans Mueller from Interpol is the lead agent watching the Corrandini Family. Hans is eager to gain information and will do anything to get this doctor placed on the Corrandini yacht in Monaco.
Nick has never met anyone like Marcie. No one has ever generated this type of excitement within him. A beautiful woman who knows no fear. She is passionate, lives for today, never worries about tomorrow, and has never been denied anything.
Marcie finally glimpses the cold dark side of her father. Her father asked her to do this one thing for him that could save his life. The assassination of her father puts her on the run. She is now a target and realizes she must leave the comforts she has known all her life and find some kind of existence someplace no one will ever think to look for her. She covertly travels from Monaco to get to her bank accounts in Switzerland, transfers money to other accounts, and then goes into hiding. For the second time Nick loses a woman he cares for.
Friends and enemies assist and pursue her, and several times Marcie is found; First in a small town in Michigan, then in New York City at a children’s charity auction. Both Nick and Marcie are then put into the Witness Protection Programs, Nick by the United States and Marcie by Interpol. Only Hans Mueller seems to know where both are. How they find each other again is the story, set in Omak and Okanogan, small towns in Washington State.
Here Nick takes over an existing small town practice from a retiring doctor and Marcie, now Mary, buys an accounting firm. Their meeting is orchestrated from Europe, but also unwittingly by members of their small community as they daily pass within minutes of each other.
