Where were you fifty years ago?

Fifty years ago President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. I remember the day. I was in high school and a friend told me between classes that the president had been killed. My answer was which president. It hadn’t occurred to me that it was “the” president. I thought it might be one of the ex-presidents. My first thought was why would anyone do that? I remember the procession on television (black and white) with the horse drawn coffin and all the honor guards. I also remember his son being on the cover of Life magazine with his famous salute.
There are so many conspiracy theories about the events that took place on the day of the assassination and the killing of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby. So who really knows the truth? What I’ve never understood is why Jack Ruby would have killed Oswald. The Warren Commission concluded both acted alone. And yet today, fifty years later, the CIA, FBI, KGB, Cuba, and other right wing groups are considered “suspects” in the death of President Kennedy. Will we ever know the truth? Sometimes the truth is deceptive.
