There’s been a lot of noise about healthcare the last few days, weeks, months, and years. The opinions most of the time vary with your political party affiliation. Having read the political comments by both parties, I’d like to address the issue from my prospective. It is messed up. It has been messed up for years before “Obamacare.” I remember having to pay ten dollars a month to cover my family above the premiums my company paid. We’re not talking copays, but monthly. Then the cost went up, sometimes ten times faster than inflation. Now many people are paying hundreds if not thousands of dollars for health care.
Hospitals are writing off millions of dollars for care provided to people with no healthcare coverage. Each hospital is trying to figure out how to survive and provide services to everyone. Where I live most of the new office buildings are for medical services. When you look at the cost of health care in any other country it is much less. Is the service provided that much worse? I can get medication from Canada for much less. Why is that? This is a complex problem that no one took on until Obama took office. Do I agree with everything? No, but I agree that the problem needed to be addressed. Like all insurance policies, you don’t need it until you really need it. Fix what needs to be fixed and move on or don’t run for reelection. Either way the American people will win.
