So I’m watching the hummingbirds today. The ones who should have traveled south but because of people like me stayed and are living off our feeders. The problem in the last few days is the feeder has been frozen solid, an iceberg. I bring mine in at night so it is thawed in the morning. Yesterday when I hung it up, two were drinking before I reached the hook. There are four of them and they fight all day long.
One is really possessive, chasing all the others away all day long. He/she even sat on the back of another while on the feeder, lifted it off and drove it onto the deck. “My food!” I’ve never seem them so aggressive. Sure, during the summer there’s a continuous battle, but not to the extent this one has taken it. I’m afraid the others will starve to death. Luckily several of the other neighbors put their feeders out. Still the war continues. The question is which one is Boehner and which is Pelosi.
