If I say China what is the first thing you think of? Is it all the products that we import from China or is it their red flag with gold stars? How about China being the host for the Summer Olympics in 2012 or the taking over of Hong Kong? Do you see Tiananmen Square and all the protesters or China’s increase in military ships, planes, helicopters, and troops? Do you think about all the Chinese who came to America to build railroad lines and work in the mines around the west coast or the Chinese restaurants all over America?
There are over a billion people in China even with the one child per family restriction they have had for years. It is one of the fastest growing societies in the world with double digit growth for over a decade. Do you see all the new buildings, high speed rail lines, and airports, or do you see the pollution from all the coal plants and the unhealthy cities many live in? All the problems we as Americans had to deal with in the past, China is facing now. It will be interesting to see how they handle all of them. My guess is that there will be some major changes in China in the next ten years. In the last few years the Middle East and northern Africa have seen the Arab Spring and I think something will happen in China very soon. The question is what and how it will happen? There have been a large number of young adults from China who have come to America for their college degrees. China is a country steeped in tradition, but with the internet things are changing.
