Being someplace you didn’t want to be

Being someplace you didn’t want to be

Have you ever been somewhere you just didn’t want to be? I met a young woman yesterday who was that person at a PGA golf tournament.  She’d never played golf, didn’t understand the game, and was cold. Surrounded by avid fans of the game she was lost. Her boyfriend invited her and then left her while he went to watch some of the professionals. She had soon found out how much walking was involved and what strange colored pants some of the players wore. I sat next to her at one of the tables while eating my late lunch. She wanted to know if the players went to the driving range or over to the practice putting green while they waited between holes.

We sometimes forget that others may not have the same interest or knowledge about a certain subject or sport. We think because it is interesting to us, it must be interesting to everyone! There are a lot of people who enjoy golf and many more who just don’t care about it in the least. Today I met a person who will never be interested in golf. I did learn one thing from her; don’t admit out loud to slapping your ex-husband while he was drunk. You might get a free overnight stay in the local jail.
