Putting on a links golf course

Putting on a links golf course

Sometimes I just can’t putt. I’ll be on a green and I’ll read the wrong break, hit the ball too firmly and be lucky to three putt. Nothing can roughen a good round faster than not being able to putt.On some courses it is even more important. These are called link’s courses. There’s a few more around today than there used to be. Take Bandon Dunes. Two of its courses are listed in the top ten courses in the United States.  Here you will puttlonger distances, from twenty to fifty feet off the green. Every lay is side hill and every green is huge and undulating. Since these courses are on the Pacific Ocean the weather also plays a huge factor.

One day you can be playing in shorts, and the nextday you’ll needthree layers of clothing, with the last layer being the best rain gear in the world. You’ll be glad the rain gear is the best because the wind will also be blowing hard. I remember putting uphill into the wind and having the ball end up behind me. It’s not cheap course, but every avid golfer should go there at least once. If you can’t make it there, try Wine Country just outside Walla Walla. I shot my best back side there in a long time. Of course the weather was mild and I could putt that day. http://www.winevalleygolfclub.com/?ct=1
